When I was a kid, I was diagnosed with the hyper kind of ADHD. I hated how I felt judged by everyone, my peers and even the teachers. Everyone told me ADHD was something you would grow out of, so I just figured I would too.

Because of my experiences growing up, I became a school counselor. The first couple of years went well, but with each new school year, it became increasingly difficult to keep up with all the administrative paperwork. I was trapped in a cycle of non-stop work. Over and over.

About a year ago, my son was diagnosed with ADHD. My wife pointed out that I was experiencing some of the same issues. So much for outgrowing it. My doctor prescribed medication but also suggested I work with an ADHD coach to address my executive function challenges. I was referred to Coach Laura by my doctor.

I’m so glad I found Laura. She has a deep understanding of ADHD, and her approach helped me see immediate results. Through 1:1 coaching, I’ve learned how my brain works, and I understand things more clearly when I see them. Now, we’re refining my process to handle issues as they arise and improve my system’s performance.

Update: Today, I’m working full-time as a blogger and loving it. Making the leap from counselor to writer wasn’t easy, but with the processes and tools Laura helped me build, I finally had the clarity and confidence to make it happen. I know she keeps a busy schedule, but if you get the chance to work with her, take it. It’s absolutely worth it.
